Hormone Replacement Therapy
Hormone imbalances can affect both men and women, impacting overall health and well-being. As key messengers in the body, hormones regulate many essential processes by interacting with specific cells and organs to keep systems in harmony. Bioidentical Hormone Therapy (BHRT) offers a natural approach to restoring this balance by replacing lost hormones with bioidentical, non-synthetic options, helping you feel like the best version of yourself once again.
What to Expect
During Your Treatment
At your first appointment, we’ll begin by drawing a comprehensive lab panel to understand your unique hormone and lab levels and pinpoint your specific needs. Using these results at a second appointment, we’ll create a personalized treatment plan that naturally supports your body’s health.
At the second appointment, after reviewing labs and creating a customized wellness plan, we will insert a small bioidentical testosterone or estrogen pellet just under the skin, typically in the upper buttock area. The pellet(s) releases hormones gradually, allowing your body to absorb what hormones it may need based on your individual metabolism and activity levels. Most start to feel the benefits within seven to ten days, as a steady, balanced dose of hormones flows into the bloodstream. Each treatment is customized to your unique physiology, providing gentle, targeted support for your body’s optimal hormone balance.
Aftercare
Hormone pellets are about the size of a grain of rice, but they may be felt post-placement for a few days due to swelling. Because hormone pellets are bioidentical, they will slowly dissolve over time and disappear, which means the pellets do not need to be removed. As your body utilizes the hormones and the pellets slowly dissolve, your symptoms will begin to return over time.

Additional Tips
- Keep the Area Clean and Dry: Avoid showering, swimming, or soaking in a bath—3 days for females and 7 days for males. This helps prevent infection at the insertion site.
- Avoid Strenuous Activity: Refrain from intense exercise or heavy lifting, especially activity that uses the gluteal muscles—3 days for females and 7 days for males post-insertion. This reduces the risk of pellet dislodgment before they settle.
- Wear Loose Clothing: Opt for loose-fitting clothes to minimize irritation and allow for airflow, helping the area heal faster.
- Limit Pressure on the Area: Try not to sleep on the side where the pellet was inserted for a few days.
- Avoid applying creams, lotions, or oils around the area until it has fully healed. You may notice mild redness around the small incision, which is normal and to be expected.
- Use an ice pack: An ice pack applied for 30-60 minutes following the procedure may minimize swelling and/or discomfort.
Attend all follow-up appointments to monitor hormone levels and adjust treatment as needed. Hormone levels typically stabilize within a few weeks, with effects lasting several months before the next round of pellets is required.
