Sculptra
Sculptra is a cosmetic injectable that stimulates the skin’s natural regenerative process to replenish lost facial collagen. It is FDA-approved to subtly and gradually restore facial volume. Sculptra contains poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), which is biocompatible, biodegradable, and helps restore the deep, underlying structure of the skin to diminish facial wrinkles. PLLA starts the process of collagen production, encouraging your body to make new collagen and skin cells.
Sculptra takes time, and results appear gradually and can last up to two to three years. Over time Sculptra helps the body replace lost collagen. The number of injection appointments and the number of injections per appointment varies from person to person, depending on how much collagen has been lost. On average, 2-3 injection appointments are needed over a few months.

What to Expect
During Your Treatment
Our staff will thoroughly explain the procedure and answer all questions. Each Sculptra treatment is fully customizable, so our experienced injectors will modify the treatment to your individual needs.
The treatment typically lasts about 1 hour. Side effects are minimal; however, there is always the possibility of bruising, swelling, and tenderness at the injection site.
Aftercare
- Avoid consuming large amounts of alcohol to minimize bruising, and consuming salts to avoid excess swelling
- Apply a cool compress or ice pack in 15 minutes intervals to help with swelling or bruising in the first 24 hours
- Attempt to sleep “face-up” or head slightly elevated for 2-3 nights
- Use topical arnica ointment to help reduce bruising
- Oral Benadryl and ibuprofen may be used every 8 hours for the first 3 days for comfort and swelling
- Your Sculptra will integrate with your own collagen over 2-4 weeks and will continue to stimulate collagen over the next few months
- Everyone receiving a Sculptra treatment will be instructed to massage the treatment areas for 5 minutes, 5 times a day, for 5 days
Is This Service Right For Me?
There is no “right” time to start getting Sculptra. If you are seeing signs of aging, or just want to add volume, this is a great service for you.
While there are no official studies that evaluate the safety of Sculptra in pregnant women, we would rather err on the side of caution and treat you when you are no longer pregnant.
If you have any active cold sores, we ask that you rebook, or if you have a history of cold sores, start taking Valtrex 3 days before injection.
If you have any big events coming up, we advise planning this treatment around your social calendar.
