Medical Assisted Weight Loss
Medically assisted weight loss treatments often work by helping the body regulate blood sugar and appetite more effectively. These therapies can enhance metabolic response after meals, which promotes fat burning.
Medical weight loss may also slow stomach emptying, helping individuals feel full sooner and for longer periods. This increased satiety often leads to reduced calorie intake and fewer cravings by influencing brain areas that control appetite. As a result, people tend to snack less and consume fewer calories overall.
Clinical studies show that with regular use, these options can lead to significant weight loss over time, even without drastic changes to diet or exercise. However, combining these therapies with healthy lifestyle habits is important for maximizing results and maintaining weight loss in the long term.
What to Expect
Pre-Treatment Instructions
Book a consultation with our board-certified Nurse Practitioner, Brittaney.
Get lab work done within 6 months of treatment (comprehensive metabolic panel, complete blood count (CBC), thyroid panel, lipid panel, and hemoglobin A1C) with your primary care provider.
During Your Treatment
During your appointment, our Nurse Practitioner will explain the procedure and answer any questions. We will discuss whether you are a candidate for medically assisted weight loss, what your health goals are, and make an individualized and thorough treatment plan. We will take body composition measurements before administering treatment.
After Treatment
You may experience mild side effects after your first few doses including gastrointestinal upset, nausea, heartburn, stomach pain, diarrhea, constipation, or dizziness. Your provider will be in contact with you weekly as needed to ensure your dosing is correct and to help manage any side effects you may experience. Your dosing will increase if you are tolerating the dosing, which is further explained in your consultation and education. You will be periodically visiting our office to monitor your body composition.
Is This Service Right For Me?
This treatment is intended for individuals who are looking for a medical approach to support weight management. You must be in good health, have recent lab work completed, and have a BMI of 27 or above. If your BMI is below 27, you may still be considered for treatment. This will be evaluated during your initial consultation. To experience the full benefits of this weight loss option, a healthy diet and regular physical activity are essential. We recommend at least 30 minutes of exercise daily and/or taking 10,000 steps per day. If you are not ready to commit to a healthier lifestyle, it may be worth reconsidering whether this option is safe or appropriate for you.
